The Knick (Milwaukee, WI)

Thursday started the annual Downtown Dining Week here in Milwaukee. For those unfamiliar, it's a period where downtown Milwaukee restaurants team up to offer deals for meals. $10 three-course lunches, $20 three-course dinners, and (new this year) $30 three-course dinners at the fancy places.

GWK and I went out for lunch today at The Knick where we enjoyed a nice meal slightly out of our comfort zone. That is our goal this week: try foods we normally wouldn't at places we typically would not go. While GWK and I enjoy eating out we don't get to a lot (aside from fast food) so this week is exciting for us. At The Knick we tried Gazpacho and Hummus for appetizers, the Reuben and Talapia for our entrées, and ended our meal with their September 7th Mousse Cake and Carrot Cake.

While there I had an opportunity to check out the restroom. Bright and well-lit, this restroom had tank-type toilets, fabric covered walls, and a large vanity with space to set a purse. While sparsely decorated, the restroom had a more modern feel.

The interesting thing I saw was the embedded paper towel dispenser. Instead of simply mounted on the wall of the restroom, the holder appeared to have been set-into the wall. I thought this was a great touch. Instead of bumping into the dispenser in a crowded restroom it was tucked neatly out of the way.

Well, until the next flush!
